CHAPTER 12 INDUSTRY

I. Main Contents

The Data in this chapter reflect the basic conditions of the industrial sector in Shanghai. Major contents include:

(1) Basic conditions of industrial sectors in Shanghai; major economic indicators of industrial enterprises above designated sizes; as well as major economic indicators classified by regions, by subordination, by types of registration,by size of enterprise, and by branch of industry; and major economic efficiency indicators classified by subordination,by sizes of enterprise, and on state-controlled industrial enterprises.

(2) Major economic indicators of state-controlled industrial enterprises and their proportions of the city’s total.

(3) Major economic indicators of six key industrial sectors.

(4) Major economic indicators of high technology industries (manufacturing). classified by types of registration and by technology areas.

(5) Major economic indicators of urban industries classified by sizes of enterprise, by type of registration, and by industrial sectors.

(6) Output of major industrial products in recent years, as well as output and sales of major industrial products in 2020.

(7) Major economic indicators of large-, medium-, and small-size industrial enterprises classified by subordination by gross output value of industry.

(8) Major economic indicators of municipal and national industrial zones.

II. Scope and Coverage of Statistics

Except for table 13.1, which covers all industrial enterprises in the city, the scopes of industrial statistics were all state-owned industrial enterprises and non-state-owned industrial enterprises whose annual revenue from principal business was more than 5 million yuan from 1998 to 2006. For 2007 to 2010, the scopes of industrial statistics were all industrial enterprises whose annual revenue from principal business was more than 5 million yuan, (i.e., the industrial enterprises above designated size). Since 2011, the scope is adjusted to all industrial enterprises whose annual revenue from principal business was more than 20 million yuan (i.e. industrial enterprises above designated size).

Branches of industry in this chapter are based on the 2017’s National Industrial Classification of all Economic Activities, and data by size of enterprise are based on 2017 Standards of Enterprises by Size.

In this chapter，the negative numbers of value added tax payable included in the total amount of tax needn’t do zero treatment since annual report of 2015.

Ⅲ.Sources of Data and Methodology of Survey

The data of industrial enterprises statistics in this Chapter are collected mainly from the relevant data in the annual industrial statistics reporting forms.
